COVET LIST: Lalique, Enriching Life Through Crystal

On a very lucky day during my two weeks internship at a luxury PR agency, I was honoured to be introduced to the world of Lalique.
Being a girl always interested in beauty in all its forms, I had already heard the name Lalique regarding beautiful luxury masterpieces handmade in France. Moreover, before starting my internship I had looked up the agency’s clients not to be unprepared, like every good girl would do.

A Lalique store
When my colleague and I entered the shop on that day, I had no idea of what I was going to experience. Our plan was simply to take a look around: she wanted me to see in person some of the creations I was helping dealing with on Social media.

But life threw me some lemons that time and I promptly made lemonade out of it. As the London brand ambassador recognised my colleague, our welcome to the shop was unique: treated like the most desirable customers, we were introduced to the decorative items, the pieces of art, the jewels and collectibles perfumes.

The moment your eyes browse through the shop, you cannot find a crystal which doesn’t convey a deep sense of movement, of sensuality and on perfection. Even more incredibly so, if you think that every piece is unique and handmade, as the explained us thanks to a video where you can see how the production of these magnificent crystals happens.

I personally believe that my favourite items displayed were the vases. The way light would dwell in every different corner of the flawless surface had cast a spell on me. And I was quite surprise to find myself very fond of the perfumes too, which made my mind wonder at every different scent in a lavender field in south of France, in a citrus grove in Sorrento or in a  traditional green courtyard of a Persian house.

For more than a century now the name Lalique is associated with luxury. Whether you just find yourself in Paris, or London or any other capital so lucky to have a flagship store, I would always recommend paying a visit. Browsing through Lalique’s pieces of art on internet may be the best way to spend a relaxing evening sipping tea at home, but having a first hand experience is completely different.

For the luckiest ones, the house Renè Lalique in Alsace (France) has just been transformed into a museum were the most impressive luxury pieces have been collected. It may turn out to be a great city escape, seen that the region is also praised for its magnificent natural sites and its strong and ever-present local traditions.
